Ask anyone and they will all say,
“Darren, knows nothing about engines and doesn’t like anything mechanical.”
Well, it’s true.
However, we were invited to Santa pod raceway and I thought what the heck, lets check it out.
We arrived quite late in the day, around 13.00 hrs to find a long queue into the venue. On this occasion, there were fireworks and a bonfire so we wanted to stay later. We parked up which was easy and had some lunch before going in. Saved a lot of money doing that.
The first thing you come to is an area for helicopter rides, some shops, food kiosks, and toilets.
There is a huge mound near to the track and atop of this mound you can see everything. Lots of families had taken fold out chairs (good idea) for their viewing comfort.
We had literally been there for a few minutes and a Peugeot Jet car came out with its crowd pleasing, thunderous roars and mile long afterburner flames! WOW!
I LOVED IT!
So, what was on?
Mini Monster trucks
Rides on the back of a Monster truck
Kids area, with crafts
Plenty of food and drink
Fun fair rides
Various races through out the day
Live music and shows
Our Santa Pod Highlights
Yes, the Monster trucks are awesome. Unfortunately one broke during one of the stunts so the show finished early but these things can’t be helped.
Also the jet cars. They are so ferocious and in the blink of an eye they’re gone again.
Looking for a place to stay
If you are looking for a place to stop for the night close to the Raceway, then look no further.
The Sharnbrook hotel is a beautiful three star hotel just 10 minutes from Santa pod. The Sharnbrook Hotel & VesuviO Restaurant was amazing. We enjoyed the delicious authentic Italian food in the restaurant and our room was extremely comfortable.
Would definitely recommend this place. Great for parties, weddings or just stopping at for a relaxing night.
