About Apsley House

Robert Adam designed the house in the neoclassical style for Lord Apsley in the 1770s. Richard Wellesley bought it in 1807, and in 1817 it passed to his younger brother Arthur, the 1st Duke of Wellington.

Standing alone at Hyde Park Corner, facing the Wellington Arch, the Grade I listed house is thought to be perhaps the only preserved English aristocratic townhouse from its period. It remains the London townhouse of the Dukes of Wellington.
