Symbole de la France, le Camembert fait partie de notre quotidien gourmand. En l’espace de deux siècles, il nous est devenu si familier qu’il est considéré patrimoine gastronomique national. Ce produit du terroir, représentant au-delà de nos frontières un certain côté populaire, exprime paradoxalement le raffinement à la Française. En 1791 sous la Révolution Française, c’est à deux pas d’ici dans le Manoir de Beaumoncel qu’est né le Camembert, de la rencontre d’un prêtre réfractaire et d’une fermière Augeronne : Marie Harel. En restaurant au cœur du village une bâtisse du XVIIIème-début XIXème siècle, la Maison du Camembert offre une vitrine au plus emblématique des fromages français et rend hommage à Marie Harel sur les lieux historiques de la naissance de cette grande saga. Prolongez votre visite par la fromagerie Beaumoncel pour découvrir les différentes étapes de fabrication du Camembert de Normandie grâce aux baies vitrées qui vous plongent au cœur des ateliers. Du moulage manuel, en passant par les caves d’affinage et l’emballage, le Camembert n’aura plus de secret pour vous. A la fin de votre visite, pour une conclusion gourmande, une assiette avec 3 parts de Camembert vous est proposée pour comparer tous les types de Camemberts (pasteurisé, thermisé, cru, …). Visite audio-guidée. A noter : une des salles n'est pour le moment plus accessible, suite à un incendie.
