L’auteur de cet édifice sur la Grand’rue qui fut construit en 1606, n’est autre qu’Albert Schmidt, également architecte de la maison dite des chevaliers de Saint-Jean (1608) et de la maison des Têtes (1609). Construite dans un style Renaissance allemande, le bâtiment comporte trois étages et est encadré à chaque extrémité par un pignon à volutes et un oriel d’angle, qui agrémentent l’édifice.
