About Kedleston Hall

Kedleston Hall was built in the 1760s as the family seat of the Curzons and is now cared for by the National Trust. Its exterior follows the Palladian style, while the interiors are in the Neo-classical taste, making it a fine place to see how Georgian design came together in one house.

The house reshaped the landscape around it. In 1759 Nathaniel Curzon moved the medieval village of Kedleston to clear space for his new mansion. The only survivor of the old settlement is All Saints Church, which dates from the 12th century and still stands as a reminder of the village that came before.

Highlights

  • Palladian exterior with Neo-classical interiors
  • Built in the 1760s for the Curzon family
