About Belton House

Sir John Brownlow, 3rd Baronet, built Belton between 1685 and 1687 in the parish of Belton near Grantham. The house has been praised as a compilation of the finest Carolean architecture, a style sometimes called England's only truly vernacular one since Tudor times.

Formal gardens surround the house, and avenues lead out to follies set within a larger wooded park. It is a rewarding place to combine historic interiors with a walk through the grounds.
