Full Route Breakdown
A) Lakeside Car Park
Start your day at the Lakeside Car Park beside Derwentwater. It’s the perfect base with instant lake views and easy access to the paths leading into Keswick.

B) Max the Miracle Dog Statue
Follow the path towards the bronze statue of Max, the beloved therapy dog who became a Lake District icon. It’s a lovely moment to pause before heading into Hope Park.
C) Hope Park
Wander through Hope Park’s gardens, ponds and quiet corners. It’s a peaceful transition from lakeshore to town, with plenty of benches and photo spots.
D) Keswick Town Centre (Lunch Stop)
Continue into Keswick’s bustling centre. Choose a cosy pub, café or bakery for lunch — there’s no shortage of options. After eating, explore a few local attractions such as The Puzzling Place, independent shops, galleries or the market (if it’s on).

E) Walk Back to Derwentwater
Head back towards the lake and join the shoreline path. This stretch is easy, scenic and full of classic Derwentwater views — wooded sections, open water, fells rising all around.
F) Lodore Falls
Continue south until you reach Lodore Falls, tucked behind the Lodore Falls Hotel. Expect a short, rocky path leading to a dramatic cascade hidden in the trees. It’s atmospheric, cool and a great spot to pause.
G) Mary Mount Pier → Ferry to Keswick
Walk a few minutes to the pier opposite the Mary Mount Hotel. From here, board the Keswick Launch for a relaxing ferry ride back across Derwentwater to your starting point.
